A successful full-service hair salon outgrew their existing space and needed to expand. Their new space would require more cutting stations with an increase in services, such as a color and blow-out bar. The experience of moving customers through the space, as they received different services, was a major factor in layout. The space was designed to control the flow of customers, placing areas of openness and gathering towards the storefront with secluded areas deeper in the space, for a private and exclusive feeling. Aesthetically, the client requested a warm and comforting atmosphere with a wood feature ceiling. During the initial planning, it was realized that the salon would out-grow this new space too quickly. The client would need a larger space and these designs were not further developed.
