Location: New York, NY

Originally modified with several built-ins, the long, narrow and constricted layout of this one bedroom Tribeca apartment required full renovation. As gourmet chefs, the clients insisted on installing a large working kitchen as well as an open living space. Creating an open, sunlit space with ample storage drove many design decisions. The kitchen wall was removed to integrate the living space and new stainless steel countertops, cherry color cabinets and frosted glass cabinet doors were installed. The kitchen color palate extends to the bathroom tiles as well as the use of frosted glass pocket doors. Functional storage space was installed in the hallway between the living area and bedroom. Creating continuity enhanced the minimalist aesthetic and amplified the open design.
